Merry Thanksgiving and Happy Christmas!

I'm trying to cover ALL the bases here before I post my latest project for My Scrap Chick!

Yes, today is the day before Thanksgiving.  After tomorrow it's full force ahead with Christmas.  But why wait? Well, yes, there is the fact that we FIRST have to have Thanksgiving Dinner.

So....while my First Thanksgiving Pie is in the oven (it's Mincemeat, made for my dear husband) I thought that I would post my latest project.

It's a little, itty bitty, project...really!

But, it's cute and could bring any Starbuck's Lover a lot of Joy!

And do you know what the one of the best things is about this project?

Not only is it fast, BUT, you can use your scraps to make it!

All of the paper that I used to make my Stocking Gift Card Holder were leftovers from an Album Class that I taught two years ago (yes....I held onto my scraps)

Here is a photo showing all of the different parts to the stocking

It's really not hard to figure out how to layout the paper so that you can use scraps.

This is the front and the back of the stocking.  Fold the little tabs down, and glue it together!

(and yes, i inked each piece of the stocking

There's also a PDF that will show you all of the parts to the stocking.

Super fast to put together!

Happy Creating!

AND!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Tis the Season!

Yes, I know Thanksgiving comes before Christmas.

And I KNOW I shouldn't be posting Christmas projects until at least Thanksgiving Night.

But, in our house Thanksgiving really doesn't exist.

You see, my Husband is British.  He's one of those! lol.

I mean we do celebrate with a Turkey, and stuffing and Mince Meat Pies.  Because well, we have to eat.

To be truthful, we do have a Thanksgiving Dinner.  But with there really just being the two of us I really don't cook a HUGE meal.  Our daughter who is 22 years old usually goes to her boyfriend's family house and then she comes home to "graze".  So cooking a 22 pound Turkey just doesn't work, unless we want LOADS of leftovers.  And, believe me, with what I DO Cook there are still LOADS of leftovers!

Now... back to my project!

For my first November Project for My Scrap Chick I made Jar Tags (from the Canning Jar Preserves SGV File)!

These super cute tags can be used year round!  Not just for Christmas.  Just alter the paper and the colors and bam you have a cute little tag for your homemade goodie!

For my tags I used the Joyous Collection from Authentique Paper (I'm an Authentique Junkie!  love Authentique!)  You could actually make the tags with scraps of your paper too!

Here are some close ups of each of the tags

(This one is my favorite because I LOVE polka dots!)

The tags all flip open.  There is plenty of room for you to write a little note to you recipient.

I also added a little stamp that I bought at Hobby Lobby.  The "Homemade Just For You" stamps makes a cute little addition to the tag.  And of course I stamped it on Kraft Paper to match the base paper of the tag.

These tags are super easy and super quick to make!

Here's a link to where they are in the store:

Hope you liked my tags!

Happy Sunday before Halloween!

It's the Sunday before Halloween and you just decided that you want to make something really cute to hand out to the Trick or Treaters this year...what to do? what to do?

Have I got a SUPER CUTE Project for you!

You can make these Super Easy and Super Cute Owl Treat Bag Holders.  (they would also make excellent goodie bags for Halloween Parties)

When I went out to buy candy for my treat bags I had to have it color coordinate!
And lucky for me, these Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Bats packaging matches PERFECT! lol

One of the owl's eyes are completely round.  And the other's are scalloped circles.  The white's in thier eyes were made using a white pen. The white pen that I recommend is the Uni-Ball Signo.  I've tried other white pens but I really do love this one!

These treat bags were super fast to put together and you can customize one to be a girl just by simply putting a ribbon in "her hair".  By chance I had this orange and black dotted ribbon in my stash and it matched perfectly!

Boo!

It feels like it's been awhile since I blogged last.  In the last month I've had SO much going on!  My annual trip to Vegas for Teresa Collins Vegas Event, My Birthday (we won't talk about that) and getting ready and making things for a BIG Two Day Craft Show that I've been participating in for the past few years.

I could tell you lots about the above, but I think it's best we move on to HALLOWEEN!

Did I type that in all Caps?

Yes!  I did!

I LOVE HALLOWEEN!

It's not the candy, because I really don't eat that much candy anymore.  And it's not the costumes that people wear.  Okay, to be truthful...I hide on Halloween Night.  Yes...I one of those!  lol.

So what is it about Halloween that I love?  It's the COLORS!  Purples, and Greens, and Black (which is actually my FAVORITE color) and well, the combination of all the colors just makes me happy!

This month for my first project I made the Fall Pillow Boxes from My Scrap Chick.  The little Pillow Boxes are SO cute that they can make anyone happy!  And as I was making them I actually WAS happy!  Here's a photo...you tell me...don't the colors just MAKE you Happy?

To be totally honest...I LOVE owls, so the Owl Fall Pillow Box makes me very Happy!

The Pillow Boxes are the perfect size to fill and hand out to trick or treaters...or for office gifts....or to students in your classroom?  Or, just make them for yourself!

But that's not all I made!

No...it's not.

I also decided that i wanted to make a "FALL" Box.  Like a Pumpkin.  So I DID!

I used an embossing folder for the leaves, and for the vines I twirled paper around a pencil.

The Pumpkin Box would be a great Teacher Gift...just fill it with a treat and send it to school to your favorite teacher.

And...if you think they did too and you want to make that it's REALLY easy to do!

"Home"

That was a simple Blog post title wasn't it!

Today I'm sharing with you my latest project for My Scrap Chick

This time around I made a "Home" Sign for my house...my home.

When I made this, it was the FIRST time I had ever made one of the frames, and let me tell you I LOVED how it turned out.  Now if you noticed I said that this was the "First" frame that i made, and it is.  I made another Frame for a different project, but to tell you the truth, this was my VERY first one!  I made it in February and I've had it in my Craft Room.  Everytime I looked at it I would say "I love the colors that I used", but I didn't know what I was going to put in the middle of the frame.  On my other Frame I put the quote "This is my happy place'..and well in February I WAS going to put that quote in this Frame, but it didn't work for me.

So "Home" Fit.

And the "Home" sign was made.

Now I won't be able to sit in my Craft Room and think, "what am I going to put in the blank space of the frame".

When you look at the frame you wonder how in the world it's made...it's VERY easy!  (I used a LOT of pop dots!)  Anyone can do this, and there are LOTS of frame to choose from!

Do your kids like to read?

That is a serious question.

So, do they?

If so, what do they use for bookmarks?

I used to read ALL the time, now not so much.  But a few weeks ago I made myself go to the Library and check out some books.  And not just Craft Books! lol

When your kids read books what do they use for bookmarks?  Do they just use a piece of paper torn out from a notebook?  or do they "Dog Ear" the page to remind them where they left off?

For my first project for September I thought I would make something that was not only useful, but cute too!

Bookmarks!

Everyone needs them....even me.

These bookmarks aren't just cute!  But they are super easy to put together.  And you know what else you could do with them...give them to a teacher!  Make several sets and bring them to your child's Teacher (or Librarian) and let them give them out to specials students!

I like to share, so here's the file I used for this Super Easy Project!

Sharing a new layout!

Today I decided to go to the Scrapbook Store and Scrapbook.

And yes, I know it's Wednesday, but I decided to venture out of the house! Which goes totally against me wanting to become a Hermit.

And what's even more strange is that I started AND finished a layout!

I think it's pretty!

Now, if you know me you know that i really don't like the color blue...yes, I know Strange.  But even though I don't like blue I can SCRAPBOKK blue and it turns out pretty good!

I didn't want to bring a lot of supplies with me today since it was a weekday.  And, I knew I wouldn't be there for very long.  Maybe a couple of hours at the most.  So what did I pack?  My Kiwi Lane Templates, some ink, my paper trimmer, scissors, and some pop dots.  Oh...and paper.  Not much really, I'm pretty sure that I only used six sheets to create the above layout. Which to be honest, is not bad! One thing I forgot....a pencil

Oh well.  But as you can see it all worked out!  And I have another beautiful layout which has already been added to my Etsy Shop!

Have a Happy Day!

"Merry"

Yes...there I said it "Merry".

I know, I know it's still August and everything Christmas is coming out earlier and earlier every year.

Including December Daily Albums, Yearly Christmas Albums and so forth...

But I NEEDED to get this album posted today!

Why today?

Well, mainly because the paper that I used for my album is from Kiwi Lanes and it's in the Last Chance section of the store...and I wanted to give you all a chance to be able to purchase some before it's gone, gone, gone, forever! (I'll list the products I used in my store to the bottom of the post)

Now, what you need to realize is that my album is not yet completed.  It's "nearly" there, but I have Oh so much more to do!  I don't particularly like the ribbons Iused, so I want to change all of that to sheer green polka dot ribbon and some sheer blue polka dot ribbon, and one other color which I need to decide on.  Also, I need to decorate the tabs of the album itself.  They look a bit naked and need some decorating...so I need to do that.  And I need to add MORE gemstones...but like I said, it's "nearly" there!

Here's the album: (just remember, it's NOT completely done....but "nearly" there!  :-)

As you can see throughout the album I used the Scallop Template (A1).  I wanted each page to have something in common.  And since the Scallop is one of my most favorite templates I decided to use that one!

I also used the Merry and Bright Layout Kit from Kiwi Lane Designs.  It's Nice and Bright and Fun!  I think I used at least four packaged of this paper...the multicolored dotted paper that I used for photo mats if from Coordinations and was purchased at Joanns.

So...what other templates from Kiwi Lane Designs did I use? Here's a list with links to the store:

Kiwi Lane Designer Template: Scallops No. 1A
Kiwi Lane Designer Template:  Large Bracket No. 1
Kiwi Lane Designer Template:  Tiny Holiday No. 8T
Kiwi Lane Designer Template:  Tiny Holiday No. 1T
Kiwi Lane Designer Template:  Tiny Holiday No. 3T
Kiwi Lane Designer Template:  Winter  No. 2
Kiwi Lane Designs Paper:  Merry and Bright Layout Kit (I used SEVERAL of these kits)

Now....if you'd like to use the same paper that I used to make an album, you REALLY should order some Layout Kits asap!  The Layout Kits are in the "Last Chance Section" of the store...which means when they are gone...they're gone!

For the Month of September All outside orders (Templates, Paper, etc) for my website need to be
placed through the following link:

Here's a link to the "Last Chance" section!  And when you're ready to place an order all you need to do is go to my Website:  create.kiwilanedesigns.com/jillcornelius or KiwiLaneGirl.com  then you create an account, and make your selections.  All orders over $35.00 receive Free Shipping!  Which is a plus for me since I used probably 4-5 of the Merry and Bright Layout Kits....

Home Sweet Home!

Sorry for my delay in posting my second August project for My Scrap Chick.  You know how life gets in the way, and you totally forget things, because you're doing other things?  Well, that happened to me.

I worked on my project for several days (yes, days....) and I had to keep re-doing things.  Why? Well, I didn't like the colors I was using.  I started my project by making a pink house, with a brown roof. But then I ran out of brown paper so had to re-think the entire project.  Then I remembered a conversation I had with someone...the question was:

"What types of project do you like to make with SVG's?"

I had to think.  Of course I like to make cute projects, projects that I can use in my own home.  And I started to think about the current project that I was working on, and I decided that I wanted to make this project for myself, and I wanted to display it in my house.  In order to do this, I needed to change the colors and I KNEW exactly what color I needed to use!

"YELLOW

Well, the color i need to match was a more toned down yellow...lol.

So I "re-built" my house! lol

And wouldn't you know, with changing the colors of my house, and adding some clouds, a tree, and the title, the project turned out just as I had hoped.

And I can't wait to display my project in my entryway!
Doll Houses, Happy Tree Forest, and believe it or not....Happy Tree Forest!  Yes....I used a St. Patrick's Day SVG file. I NEEDED the clouds!

Here's a close-up of my re-built house

Happy First Day of School!

For some families, August means that the end of Summer is coming and the beginning of the School year is approaching (fast!)

My only daughter graduated High School in 2013.  But I remember the first days of school!  All of those things you had to do to get ready.

First you had to make sure that your First Day of School outfil was pretty!  Which also meant that you had to go shopping, which ALSO meant for me...hours at the Mall.

Did you pack or buy your lunch?  On the first Day of School I always let my daughter buy her lunch if she wanted to.  Remember there are NO Leftovers on the Lunch Menu for the First Day of School.

First Day of School Photos?  Those were always taken near the big tree in our front yard.  As a matter of fact ALL special photos were taken near the big tree, unless it was raining. If it was raining then the photos were taken inside the house near the front door.

CONFESSION TIME: I actually have a photo of my daughter on her last day of High School holding a photo of herself on her first day of Kindergarten....i get teary thinking of that day.  This is what happens when you only have one...

Onward!

The First Day of School isn't only special for the Kids.  But it's also special for the Teachers. So why not make your child's teacher a little goodie to remember the First Day of School!

For this month's first project I decided to make the Little School Box from My Scrap Chick.  It was quick and easy to make, and it's a BOX so that you can put anything in it! (Candy would be good! Teacher's like candy!)

Now i can't promise that this will make your child the Teacher's Pet, but at least they will probably both have a REALLY good First Day of School!

Here's a link to the file:  Little School House

Have a Great First Day of School!

Christmas in July Part 2: Christmas Cards!

For my Second July project for My Scrap Chick I wanted to show everyone some really cute and really easy to make cards!  In this post I"ll share with you both my cards and the links for you to purchase the svg files!

When I first saw the Gentle Snowflake Card file I knew that i had to cut the snowflake out of Glittery Paper!  And that's just what i did!  But not only did i use the Silver Glitter Paper, but I also added some Bling Strips to the back half of the card.  The combination of the two has the end result of a super Glittery Blinged out card which I love!  The patterned paper that I used for the background  behind the snowflake is from Hobby Lobby. To top off the Glittery Snowflake I added a single clear rhinestone to the center of the Snowflake.

For the second card that I made, I used the Bird Takes Flight Card File.  If you see this file in the shop at My Scrap Chick you might think that it's an Easter Card or an Everyday Card.  But, if you change the Bird from Blue to Red, add in some Christmas Paper, and a Christmas Greeting on the tag, then you will have a Super Cute Christmas Card!  I added in some pop dots under the bird and under the tag, some swirly red ribbon, and then some Stickles for the bird's eye.

The Deer Quick Card is actually TWO cards in one!  When you cut one image you actually have two parts.  You have the negative image of where the deer was, and then you have the deer itself.  Why not use both?  So i did!  I LOVE both cards.  Again the paper i used for both cards is from the same paper stack that I purchased from Hobby Lobby and used in the Gentle Snowflake Card.

I hope you enjoyed lookin at my cards!  And I can't wait to share my next project with you!
